Getting data where it's needed
Most businesses run on systems that don't talk to each other. Sometimes it's PLCs and SCADA on a plant floor that need to feed scheduling and management systems; sometimes it's a booking system, a CRM and Microsoft 365 held together by someone retyping numbers. It's the same engineering problem, and we solve it for both — as a custom software house that's spent two decades making integration work where it isn't allowed to fail.
In heavy industry: the levels, plainly
Our deepest integration work is industrial. The automation world describes a plant as levels. Level 1 is the instruments and PLCs touching the process; Level 2 is supervisory control — SCADA, process models, the systems operators drive; Level 3 is plant-wide management — production tracking, quality, KPIs, the historian; Levels 4 and 5 are the business — planning, ERP, cloud analytics and dashboards.
Each level speaks a different language and runs at a different speed. Our work is the connective tissue: taking millisecond process data and turning it into trustworthy production records, management information and business decisions — without disturbing the process it came from.
What we connect in industry
We work with the systems industrial plants actually run, rather than insisting on a favourite stack:
- PLC and SCADA data acquisition — OPC connectivity through platforms such as Kepware, bringing controller tags into the software world.
- Process historians — OSIsoft PI (now AVEVA PI) and IBA: tag audits, new tag creation, mimic and trend migration, and moving decades of process history to supported platforms.
- Messaging between systems — reliable message-queue integration (including IBM MQ) carrying production orders, results and events between Level 2, Level 3 and enterprise systems, with two-way flows and modern JSON message design where the receiving system prefers it.
- Databases and warehousing — SQL Server as the workhorse: real-time capture, SSIS-based extraction and transformation, and Level 3 data warehouses built as the single source of truth for production data.
- APIs and services — where direct database access isn't appropriate, we build clean APIs and Windows services that exchange data securely between systems.
- The top of the stack — custom intranet applications, Azure SQL and cloud platforms, and dashboards that turn plant data into KPIs, trending, delay analysis and OEE that managers actually use.
The same discipline, any business
Not every integration problem lives in a steelworks — and you don't need one to hire us. A hotel whose property management system doesn't talk to its accounts. A gym whose membership platform doesn't feed its marketing or its door access. A retailer rekeying orders between the till, the stock system and the accounts package. Different badge on the box, same problem: systems that need to exchange data reliably, without a person in the middle retyping it.
We connect the platforms businesses actually use — CRMs, booking and property management systems, membership platforms, Microsoft 365, accounting packages such as Sage and Xero, e-commerce and payment platforms — through their APIs and webhooks, or through custom middleware where no API exists. Where there's no sensible off-the-shelf route, we're a custom software house: we build the missing piece.
The industrial pedigree is what you get for free. The same habits that keep a steel plant's data flowing — knowing which system owns the truth, handling failures gracefully, never losing a record — are exactly what stops your invoices going missing between systems.
How we approach it
- Audit first. Map every existing link, tag and message flow before changing anything — you can't migrate what you haven't measured.
- Design the data flow, not just the interface. Where data originates, which system owns the truth, what happens when a link goes down.
- Security as an engineering requirement. Encryption, access control and audit trails on every flow that crosses the OT/IT boundary — overseen by a CISSP-qualified leadership team. More on our cyber security work.
- Test against the real process. Sandbox first, then validation against live operations — integration work earns trust by never disturbing production.
- Leave it supportable. Documentation, monitoring and handover so your own team can run what we build.
